Just finished the drivers meeting and here are the latest from the pits in Detriot...

Ken Muscatel complemented everyone in the biggest field in years.

High winds and pending thunderstorms look as if they will close the course for today. They will attempt to make up time lost today over the next two days. Tomorrow will begin with extended testing (and qualifying for some) from 8:00 - 9:30 AM. The U-100, U-8 and U-14 still have yet to qualify.

Here's the schedule as it stands at this point. For Saturday we have Heat 1A at 12:30, heat 1B at 1:10, heat 2A at 3:30, heat 2B at 3:50 with an autograph session scheduled for 5:00 PM. For Sunday, we have testing from 8:00 - 9:30 AM, hear 3A at 12:00, heat 3B at 12:20, heat 4A at 1:20, heat 4B 1:40 and a 3:40 final. No word yet on the heat/final action for the other classes, but we will track it dawn and get it out soon.

Here's the draw:

1A: U-3, U-9, U-100, U-8, U-10
1B: U-1, U-20, U-6, U-15, U-2

The U-100 and the U-8 are in the draw because they competed in the last race and have commissioner's options if needed. The U-14 was left out of the draw because it has yet to race this season.

We qualified yesterday with a speed of 143.900 and everything looks good at this time. The crew is relaxed and we are settling into the start of a good weekend here in Detroit. High winds have kept the boats off the water today. As action takes place, we will update the site.
