The team was hard at work in the pits from the word "go" on Friday.  It was all in preparation for the evening's Fiesta Bowl and Casino Dash for Cash, a single Friday race for money sponsored locally to help kick off the weekend and get the fans excited.  As the team worked toward the race, one thing was on everyone's mind... we have no driver.  Steve David ran into flight delays and was cutting it close to make the race.

Needing some time to test, the team asked former U-6 pilot Nate Brown to step in and help.  Nate met briefly with the team then jumped into the hull and ran a few laps.  Nate returned with much needed handling / engine information that helped the team set-up for the evening's race.

Steve David made it in time for the race and the team's preparation paid off as they took second place during the race.  The U-6's speed following day one of qualifying?  149.549!

The boat did not touch water today.  The team was happy with the set-up and did not want to risk the equipment in the rough water.

The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto kicked off the day with a bit of testing, but the power we were looking for simply wasn't with us this weekend.  The race weekend didn't turn out the way we wanted as the U-6 did not make the final, but we did take fourth in heat 1B, third in 2A and fifth in 3A.  In the provisional heat (which would decide the trailer position during the final) we ran side-by-side with Mike Hanson's U-9 Fiesta Bowl and Casino only taking second by just a little over  one mile-per-hour.  It was an extremely close race.

The team will work with the hull in Seattle during the week between the two races, focusing on the upcoming General Motors Cup at Seafair!

At this time the U-6 team is in the parking lot of the Best Western Southcenter in Seattle working on the hull in preparation for Seafair.  Stop by and pay them a visit if you are in the area (15901 West Valley Road) today.
