Looking back on Evansville!

6/28/01 ...
The U-6 team hit the road heading to Evansville this morning.
The team is loaded down with parts, engines, Oh Boy! Oberto beef
jerky and a ton of enthusiasm as they get ready to set up shop and
try and take home an early win during the first race of the
season. Steve David is also "pumped" and should
see his first seat time in the hull as soon as the team can get
the boat wet.
6/29/01 ...
The U-6 arrived safely yesterday and the team went right to work
getting her race ready. A quick dinner of ribs and much of
the team was off for a night of sleep, though a few were spotted
at the tables of Casino Aztar before the night was done.
Bright and early Friday
morning, the team was back at work in the pits. Steve David
arrived by plane at 10:10 AM and was in a driver's meeting by
11:00 AM. The team opted to bypass the morning test session.
During the evening qualification session, everything was ready and
Steve enjoyed his first seat time in the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto.
As he got used to his new ride, he didn't push too hard and ended
the day with a qualification speed of 129.795 MPH. Expect
that speed to rise during the second and third rounds on the
qualification ladder tomorrow afternoon.
6/30/01 ...
Issues related to the fuel continued to plague the team today.
Although they are still working out a few kinks, they managed to
pick up speed and time during today's qualification run.
Steve is comfortable in the boat and the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto placed
fourth in Heat 1A, the first heat of the 2001 season.
