7/12/01 ...
Morning update - The U-6 team has yet to make it to the
course. They are expected and we will let you know when they
arrive. The team has been working hard repairing a hole
punched in the ram wing during last weekend's final.
5:47 PM update - The U-6 Oh
Boy! Oberto left Madison at roughly 11:30 AM and is expected here
in the Detroit pits at anytime. Damage to the U-6 was more
severe than originally indicated. The team put in a late
night (1:00 AM) followed by an even later night (4:00 AM) to get
the hull ready for this weekend.
7:32 PM update - The team
arrived safely in the pits and set up for the weekend.
Repairs are complete and the hull looks great. Driver Steve
David has been with us in the pits throughout the day. Here
are a few photos from the arrival...

7/13/01 ...
The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto finished the day's time trials down the
ladder in a conservative position, but with a solid speed of
145.220 MPH. After a period of testing tomorrow, we'll focus
on the first real race action of the weekend.


7/14/01 ...
The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto
competed in Heat 1B and 2B today. It was a good day for the
team as they took second and third respectively. The U-6
will have lane one in Heat 3A tomorrow! Average speeds for
the team... 135.339 in 1B and 132.941 in 2B. Oh Boy!
Oberto beef jerky can be seen throughout the pits the weekend and
the team is handing out samples and stickers promoting their
sponsor. The Jerky powered U-6 will go for the Gold Cup
tomorrow!

7/17/01 ...
The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto
finished third in the Gold Cup with an average speed of 133.765!
It was a good weekend for the U-6 as the team worked hard to earn
the solid finish in this, the most prestigious of all powerboat
events. Driver Steve David appears comfortable behind the
wheel and is solidly representing the people of Madison, Indiana
as the Hydro-Prop season continues. The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto
team currently stands third in the national point standings
trailing the number two spot by just 47 points. The team
will now return home and enjoy a much deserved break before
heading west for the Tri-Cities and Seattle races.
